Mar 03, 2012. Bangor Land Trust invites you to join us at the Penjajawoc Grasslands for an unforgettable excursion onto the frozen marsh. As part of the Great Outdoors Weekend, Bangor Land Trust will show you how to experience the marsh in a way only possible during winter. We'll hike out across the wintry fields, venture onto the frozen bog, and make our way at last to a site known for beaver lodges and muskrat dens. This is a great opportunity for photography buffs, so pack your camera! Hiking poles and weather-suitable footwear are recommended - your choice of skis, snowshoes, ice grippers depending on our snow conditions. Hike Leaders: Shirley Ellis and Karla Gustafson. Feb 04, 2012. The Airport Mall Craft Fair in Bangor is one of the few remaining interior Mall walkway shows. Scheduled about 10 times each year at the Airport Mall on Union Street across from the Bangor Airport. 2012 show dates are: Feb. 4, Mar. 3, Apr. 7, May 12, Jun. 2, Sep. 1, Oct. 6, Nov. 3, Nov. 23-25, Dec. 8-9 and Dec. 22-23. Nov 17 thru Nov 18, 2012. The Comforting Blankets Craft Fair at the Bangor Civic Center is a fundraiser for Comforting Blankets . We will not ask the crafters for extra donations, unless they wish to give a tax deductable donation on their own. Money raised from the event will be used to purchase new blankets for cancer patients and kids that are in the hosptial. Mar 03, 2012. The Vancouver Chamber Choir is Canada's outstanding professional vocal ensemble. Based on the Pacific Coast in British Columbia, conductor Jon Washburn and his twenty singers are noted for their diverse repertoire and performing excellence. The ACDA Choral Journal has declared the VCC to be "as fine a vocal chamber group as any in the world today." In 1998, the VCC and Jon Washburn won the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence for their outstanding contribution to the choral art. Mr. Washburn and the Choir were honored with two awards at the 2000 Chorus America Conference, including the prestigious Louis Botto award, given in recognition of Washburn's innovative and entrepreneurial spirit in the development of a professional choral ensemble of exceptional quality. Feb 04, 2012. The first ever Penobscot SkiBash will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course, located at 278 Webster Ave. The Penobscot SkiBash is a free one-day event focused on getting kids and families outside in the winter. Activities will include laser biathlon, a radar speed trap, a scavenger hunt, an obstacle course, and more. Optional ski races (1.5km, 3km, and 6km) will begin at 3 p.m. Skiers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to attend. Hot chocolate and snacks will be available near the bonfire for those who want to warm up after skiing. Although Maine winters may seem long and cold, outdoor activities such as cross-country skiing can keep everyone healthy and active throughout the season. This event is a collaboration between the Penobscot Valley Ski Club, the Healthy Hometowns program of the Maine Winter Sports Center, Bangor Region Public Health and Wellness, and Bangor Parks and Recreation Department.
