Aug 03 thru Aug 05, 2012. Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, located in Boothbay, hosts this whimsical annual event. In 2012 it takes place August 3-5, and it is not to be missed! The Gardens will also offer some special, additional events throughout the week leading up to the festival, including a Fairy Movie Night and a puppet show by Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers. All the activities throughout the festival are free with Gardens admission. Bring the kids and grandkids to enjoy make & take crafts, fairy house building in the Bibby and Harold Alfond Children's Garden; live performances by Mr. Harley, Shoestring Theater, The Portland School of Ballet, and Primrose Puppets; Gnome Games with prizes; presentations by author Tracy Kane and the Great Bubble Machine; small workshops; and the Fairy Tea. There's lots to do and see! Designer fairy houses will be on display in our Bosarge Family Education Center for all to appreciate. The Gardens Gift Shop offers delights for all ages, with an emphasis on children's items for this child-centered weekend. The Kitchen Garden Cafe will have family- and fairy-friendly snacks on hand. In our popular Halloween event at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens - or is that "Boo-tanical Gardens" - you'll find family fun, feasting, and festivities; in all, a frightfully grand party. Start planning your costumes now! What's it all about? Read on! A costume parade around the Great Lawn with prizes for different ages and in several categories. A feast of finger foods and frightful beverages for ghouls and goblins. A Haunted Fairy House Village! Halloween crafts and activities (including making trick-or-treat bags), trick-or-treating from live characters in costume, and spooky storytime by the Bear Cave.
