Five Rivers Arts Alliance will be introducing their new team, & structure along with the launch of their new website at their first meeting of 2012 to be held on February 8 at 5 p.m., at the Frontier, Fort Andross, Brunswick. In an effort to better serve the creative community and those who support it, Five Rivers Art Alliance, has recommitted itself to strong community connections and service in promoting the arts. Plans are in place to offer members additional benefits and greater exposure. The new website will have a section exclusive to members. The primary function of the organization and the website will continue to be "Connecting Regional Arts, Culture and Heritage with the Community." We invite all to join us on February 8th to learn more about our Vision for the Future of Five Rivers Arts Alliance for 2012. We encourage your input and look forward to your support. Jul 14 thru Jul 15, 2012. Saltwater, one of the premier Celtic music events in New England, is held at beautiful Thomas Point Beach and Campground in Brunswick. 2012 lineup includes Enter the Haggis, Black 47, The Screaming Orphans, The Makem & Spain Brothers, Carbon Leaf, Searson, Sprag Session, Chrissy Crowley, The Maine Celtic Scene, Maeve Gilchrist, Aoife Clancy and Michael Shaughnessy. Noted author Kevin O'Hara (Last of the Donkey Pilgrims) will serve as emcee. Other highlights: sand beach, playground, manicured grounds and Celtic-themed vendors. Saltwater satellite events occur at leading Maine venues (Maine Irish Heritage Center, Maine Maritime Museum, Skye Theatre, Unity Centre, Byrnes' Irish Pubs ) on the days leading up to Saltwater. The New York Times called Circle Mirror Transformation an "absorbing, unblinking and sharply funny play," in which four New Englanders who have little in common each sign up for a six-week community theater class led by a free spirited teacher. Through a series of silly acting exercises and games, the unexpected discoveries they make about themselves and each other are a beautiful reminder of the human condition.
