Visit the Lewiston Winter Market and get all winter storage goods and greenhouse specials, delicious items like frozen strawberries, and blackberries, jams, jellies, pickles, and relishes. You can also pick up homemade baked goods, breads, desserts and oganic fair trade coffee; soaps, body products, crafts, pottery and more! Stop by not only to pick up your grocery needs and holiday gifts but for a home cooked meal at our Winter Market Cafe serving hot soups, breads, and casseroles- a delicious quick meal to ward of the winter blues. Meets the third Thursday of every month from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The Lewiston Winter Farmers' Market is a continuation of both the Lewiston Farmers' Market, established in 2004, and the St. Mary's Market, established in 2009. We are sponsored by St. Mary's Health System and organized by the Great Falls Farmers' and Artisans' Market Association. The market will be hosted by the St. Mary's Nutrition Center, a local and statewide resource dedicated to promoting community wellness through nutrition, youth development, and sustainable urban agriculture programs. The Franco Center will produce another unique, festive and must-experience event with its offering of Mardi Gras in L/A a the Franco Center's Heritage Hall. In the tradition of New Orleans, Mardi Gras audiences will be treated to Cajun cuisine, spirits, and music. Chef Edmond, "Directeur des Andouilles et des Cornichons" at the Franco Center, has an amazing meal planned of traditional New Orleans cuisine, including Crab Gumbo, Jumbalaya, New Orleans Ratatouille, Andouilles with Onions and Peppers, Truffled Bourbon Mashed Sweet Potatoes, and the crowning dish, a King & Queen Cake. There will be ample amounts of classic New Orleans libations, like the legendary Hurricane, to help you forget the impending fast. Of course, no Mardi Gras party is complete without some foot stomping, street shaking, soul stirring music. To help us get in the proper mood for celebrating, w've got local favorites the Blues Buzzards. This group, led by veteran guitar man Earl Bigelow, is dipped in the blues, has heaps of horns, and knows how to fatten up a Tuesday, or Saturday, as the case may be. Tickets $20. The second annual Lewiston Auburn Film Festival (LAFF) is going to be a three-day extravaganza, April 13-15, complete with opening night festivities, a full day of films in downtown L/A, top-notch awards show, brunch, and filmmaker panels! Based on the success of last year's event, where more than 1,000 festival goers attended screenings of 100+ films from all over the world, the staff at LAFF has been working hard to make LAFF 2012 bigger, better and on par with festivals found in larger, more well-known cities.
