Each season Curtis On Tour brings the extraordinary artistry of the world-renowned Curtis Institute of Music to audiences nationwide, with tomorrow's leading musicians performing alongside celebrated alumni and faculty. On the 2009-2010 tour, internationally acclaimed violinist Ida Kavafian and cellist Peter Wiley of the Curtis faculty will join Curtis students in celebrating the centenary year of alumnus Samuel Barber with a performance of his String Quartet. Returning to Bay Chamber Concerts is Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award winner Jonathan Biss, now one of the top pianists in the international circuit, who recently appeared with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. A special favorite of Bay Chamber Concerts' audiences, Biss will perform Haydn's Sonata in A flat Major, Hob.16/43; Schoenberg's Six Little Pieces, Op. 19; Mendelssohn's Variations Serieuses and a selection from "Songs Without Words," Beethoven's Six Bagatelles, Op. 126 and "Les Adieux" Piano Sonata No. 26 in E flat Major, Op. 81a. Mar 27, 2010. In conjunction with Maine Maple Sunday Farmers Fare, Rockport, will be hosting a celebration of Maine maple products. Rob of the Moonlight Maple Company in Mount Vernon will be serving samples of his delicious maple products and along with Rob's offerings there will be a special on the Cafe menu of Maple BBQ Pulled Pork and Upside Down Maple Pecan Cake to be sampled and sold by the slice. To improve an already fabulous day Gelato Fiasco will also be sampling some gelati made with maple syrup as a key ingredient.
