May 27, 2012. What began in 1981 as a small local bike race has mushroomed into a state-wide attraction, kicking off the season on Mount Desert Island. The Pro Ride follows a 30 mile route around the Western side of Mt. Desert Island. By popular demand, last year we introduced the Easy Rider, for those who want to bike at their own leisurely pace. This year, you can sign up for our Go the Distance Ride and do the entire 30 mile Pro Ride at your own pace. Ideal for families and friends of racers. Jul 13 thru Jul 16, 2012. Every year, Harbor House holds the fun-filled Flamingo Festival, a great family festival that truly has something for every one. While it is whimsical, lighthearted and decidedly hot pink, the annual Harbor House Flamingo Festival is integral to our mission of community building. Over the years, it has become a way for the community to come together to celebrate the treasured value of small town life. Young, old and in-between, locals, summer people and tourists, all participate in the festivities, and our lawns, store windows and buildings proudly display the plastic pink creatures. Jul 15, 2012. Flamingo 4-Miler and Fun Run. This four-mile race takes place on the Quietside of beautiful Mount Desert Island and is a fundraiser for Harbor House.
