Maine

Mar 12 thru Mar 21, 2010. ACAT presents: Love Song, by John Kolvenbach, focuses on Beane, an introverted, morbid and slightly lost character and his better-adjusted sister Joan. Whilst for Beane, social interaction is baffling, his sister's trials are in her stressful, professional life where she is "surrounded by dipsticks" and she takes four-minute lunch breaks. Having just fired another intern, this time for tears after a misfiling incident, her contempt for the incompetent is hilarious: "Is it too hard to staple?" Directed by Doree Austin. Camelot - Waterville Opera House
93 Main Street
Waterville,
Maine
04901
Phone: (207) 873-7000
Apr 09 thru Apr 18, 2010. The entire community of Camelot awaits the arrival of Guenevere, King Arthur of England's future Queen. Members of the audience are quickly drawn in. Some of the enchanting musical numbers include The Simple Joys of Maidenhood, The Lusty Month of May, How to Handle a Woman, I Loved You Once in Silence, If Ever I Would Leave You, and What Do the Simple Folk Do? In the end it is fourteen-year-old Tom who tells the world of Camelot's quest for right and honor and justice. As the first Broadway musical by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe after My Fair Lady, Camelot was as highly anticipated as a coronation. At the time, the advance sale was the largest in Broadway history. The 1960 musical, which turned out to be the last Lerner and Loewe theatrical collaboration, has grown in stature over the years, primarily because of its superb score. Comedian Mickey Fox holds center stage, along with the dining spot's proprietor and his wife, an upscale society dame and her nearly mute husband, a British impresario, a Broadway ingenue, and a South African playwright. One-liners fly through the comic first act; the play takes on a more serious note in Act II, when Mickey's older brother pleads with him to help his son become the comedian he desperately wants to be.
