Jun 03, 2012. Kennebunks Tour de Cure is a fund-raising bicycle ride to benefit the American Diabetes Association. Start a chain reaction. Register yourself. Ask a friend. Start a team. Choose from one of five routes, 5K, 25K, 50K, 100K, or 100 Mile. Routes follow Maine's scenic coastline, featuring rocky coves, sandy beaches and breath-taking vacation homes, all in the bicycle-friendly communities of Southern Maine. Start at Wells Reserve at Laudholm. Register on-line. Jun 16, 2012. The Annual Beach Bike Ride for Charity was founded in 2010 by a pair of Wells resident families and a couple of young sports/technology enthusiasts looking to give something back to the community. The Beach Bike Ride concept was founded with the mission of bringing the local community of Wells together with the summer resident community to help causes that impact the town of Wells. For the first two years, the Beach Bike Ride has been a meaningful supporter of the "Be Like Brit Foundation' helping their efforts to build an orphanage in Grand Guave Haiti. The orphanage is being built to honor the last wishes of Britney Gengel, a Wells summer resident who was tragically killed in the 2010 Haiti earthquake while on a college mission trip there.
