Bucksport Bay Area Chamber of Commerce

A sparkling harbor greets visitors to the Bucksport Bay Area.  Long a seafaring port at the upper end of Penobscot Bay founded by the legendary Jonathan Buck in 1764.  Though Bucksport is less bustling than some other coastal communities, it offers spectacular views of the famous Waldo/Hancock Bridge and historic Fort Knox, Maine's most visited historic site.  The charming waterfront walk & park is a great place to picnic, relax & enjoy the views of this working harbor & marina.  In East Orland just off Rt. 1 is the Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery, the oldest salmon hatchery in the nation and Great Pond Mountain where the hiking is beautiful.  The Orland & Bucksport area boasts fifteen lakes and ponds, providing a myriad of recreational and nature activities.

(Calais) St. Croix Valley Chamber of Commerce

For a "two nation vacation" visit the St. Croix Valley, a Down East Maine region on the St. Croix River joined by the US-Canada border.  The Down East Heritage Center opens a window on life in this unique bi-nation region.

Cobscook Bay Area Chamber of Commerce

A place of quiet, peace, and great natural beauty.  Enjoy bicycling, bird watching, camping, canoeing, cross-country skiing, fishing, hiking, hunting, kayaking, snowmobiling and snow-shoeing, whale watching, and great nature photography.  Antique dealers, art galleries, and museums also compete for your attention.  Visit Eastport (America's easternmost city) and Lubec and Quoddy Head State Park, home to one of Maine's most photographed lighthouses, West Quoddy Head Light.  Cross a bridge to New Brunswick, Canada onto Franklin Roosevelt's beloved Campobello Island.  All this and more is at hand in the Cobscook Bay Area.  We encourage you to discover our area's natural beauty, experience the sun's first rising in the continental United States, and enjoy our communities and their attractions.

Deer Isle-Stonington Chamber of Commerce

Deer Isle is home to two villages, more than 100 miles of shoreline fringed in pink granite and spruce, seafood for sale right from the boat, State chess champions, a working waterfront that specializes in lobstering, an inordinate number of artists and plenty of colorful characters.  No traffic lights, no fast food franchises, and no need to hurry.  Spend a summer Sunday afternoon gallery-hopping or boat out to a deserted island with a picnic, rent a cottage for a month or just stay a night or two in a B&B, take in an evening of live jazz or Shakespeare at the historic Opera House; Friday's Farmer's Market offers fresh flowers, berry pies and a feast of organic produce.  Learn about Stonington's working heritage at the Granite Museum, take a watercolor workshop or just plunk down in a comfy chair with a good book, to the sound of gulls wheeling overhead and the distant drone of lobster boats making the rounds of their traps.  The island (connected to the mainland by a bridge) welcomes visitors year-round.  Plan to trade lots of activities for lots of peace and quiet, and unrelenting scenic beauty.
