May 31 thru Jun 03, 2012. The Acadia Birding Festival is four days of birding adventures in Bar Harbor and elsewhere on Mount Desert Island in Maine. Experience the birding wonders of Maine, from boreal to ocean - warblers, puffins, and more. We offer field trips, pelagic trips, paddling adventures, workshops, social gatherings, and evening presentations. Join Pete Dunne and Kevin Karlson on these adventures around Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island, and beyond. By land or by sea, we'll find some exciting birds for you to see. Join our dedicated pelagic boat trip out of Bar Harbor Saturday morning, June 2 (fee $75). Jun 23, 2012. Annual Aroostook State Park Birding Festival. In celebration of International Birding Day, Maine's Northern Most birding event is all about the birds. Guided bird walks take participants thru Maine's First State Park, enjoying the many habitats which make this home to over 100 species of birds. Live birds of prey display, bird banding presentation, educational lectures on Bald Eagles and Woodcock, build a bird house station, kayak and canoe rides, and more. Fee is $2/ages 12-64 and $1/ages 5-11. All others free. Coffee, hot cocoa and water are available for participants and lunch will be available for a small donation. Those who attend are eligible to win door prizes. Participants are advised to dress appropriately and bring personal birding equipment such as binoculars, books, as well as sun screen and insect repellent. (Use of Maine Outdoor Heritage Funded binoculars will be available during walks) The Aroostook Birding Festival is a rain or shine event.
