Mar 29 thru Apr 01, 2012. The first annual Portland Children's Film Festival will take place in Portland, Maine from March 29, 2012 through April 1, 2012. The festival is designed to bring high quality independent and international children's films to Maine, as well as to provide multiple opportunities for local students to develop their own filmmaking talents and interact with artists in the filmmaking industry. Film screenings are presently scheduled for five different venues: St. Lawrence Theater, the Nickelodeon, Zero Station, the Portland Museum of Art and East End Community School. PSO KinderKonzerts explore the different families of orchestral instruments while introducing children to live symphonic music through fun and interactive programs with PSO musicians. The concerts are 35-40 minutes in length and take place at various locations throughout the state (ages 3-7). This composition for narrator and the PSO String Quintet tells the true story of Abbie Burgess, painting an exciting musical portrait of a raging storm and the brave young woman who kept the lighthouse burning against all odds. At the casting calls, Maine babies under the age of one will receive a free professional photograph and may have their picture appear in future Harold Alfond College Challenge promotional materials.
