Friday evening features the crowning of the new Mrs. Kingfield, an ice cream social and music under the tent with DJ Greg Powers. Saturday always starts with the kid's pet, bike and doll carriage parades, registration 8:45 a.m. The Maine artisans fair and local farmers' market will be located in front of School House Gallery from 10 to 4 p.m. Also on Saturday from 9 to 4 p.m. are pony rides and a petting zoo behind the Herbert Hotel. The parade comes through town at noon. New in 2011 will be Timber Tina and her lumber jack show from Trenton, Maine, with two shows in the parking lot of The Woodsman Restaurant at 1:30 and 3 p.m. Many local fire departments return for the second annual Firemen's Muster, held Saturday in the Knapp parking lot on Depot Street at 2 p.m. The annual "Whatever Floats Parade" on the Carrabassett River starts at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Country rock group Bad Penny Band performs from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday under the tent downtown. On Sunday is the 2nd annual 5K walk/run, local church services, truck pulls, a cook-off event, and the return of the Vertcal Outlaws, a performing motorcycle stunt show. He climbed high on "Ktaadn" in 1846, visited Chesuncook lake with Penobscot guide Joe Attean in 1853, and reached distant Eagle Lake in Allagash with Penobscot guide Joe Polis in 1857 before returning to Indian Island via the East Branch of the Penobscot River. The Bacon Street Festival is affiliated with the National Family Night Out Program sponsored by Neighborhood Watch. Last year approximately 1,000 plus people attended. The 2011 family festival will include music, an exotic animal exhibit, pony rides by Mustang Rescue, games, food, bouncy houses, and costumed characters, pie and cupcake eating contests, a dunk tank, food, more contests and activities for all ages. No pre registration is required for the contests, just go to the contest site at the correct time. There are no fees for the contests, games, exotic animal exhibit or pony rides, and there are prizes and candy for children.
