This year features International Harvester Tractors & Engines, but all makes and models are welcome. This is the largest fundraiser for the Raitt Homestead Farm Museum and raises funds to continue the preservation of the 33 acre circa 1800's dairy farm. The event brings a large assortment of Tractors, Engines and farming displays to the beautiful farm and open pastures. This event attracts hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of spectators each year and should not be missed. Families can spend the entire day at the farm enjoying a variety of events from the Auction and Pasta dinner on Friday night to the Ladies Skillet Toss, Kids Pedal Pull, live entertainment with Mike Hashem renowned banjo player, tractor parades, crafters, barrel tractor rides, face painting, Kids Korner, Colonial Encampment and three different kinds of tractor pulling throughout the weekend. In 2011, events were as follows, so expect similar in 2012: Friday evening features the crowning of the new Mrs. Kingfield, an ice cream social and music under the tent with DJ Greg Powers. Saturday always starts with the kid's pet, bike and doll carriage parades, registration 8:45 a.m. The Maine artisans fair and local farmers' market will be located in front of School House Gallery from 10 to 4 p.m. Also on Saturday from 9 to 4 p.m. are pony rides and a petting zoo behind the Herbert Hotel. The parade comes through town at noon. New in 2011 will be Timber Tina and her lumber jack show from Trenton, Maine, with two shows in the parking lot of The Woodsman Restaurant at 1:30 and 3 p.m. Many local fire departments return for the second annual Firemen's Muster, held Saturday in the Knapp parking lot on Depot Street at 2 p.m. The annual "Whatever Floats Parade" on the Carrabassett River starts at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Country rock group Bad Penny Band performs from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday under the tent downtown. On Sunday is the 2nd annual 5K walk/run, local church services, truck pulls, a cook-off event, and the return of the Vertcal Outlaws, a performing motorcycle stunt show. Our theme this year is SpEGGTacular Circus. The Town of Pittsfield is home to the Egg Festival. A quiet industrial community of less than 5,000 people, Pittsfield welcomes approximately 35,000 visitors each July. A large Street Dance, Egglympics, window painting, art show and craft fair are just a few of the scheduled events during the week leading up to the Big Day - Saturday, July 20 - which features The Big Parade, Kiwanis Karnival with its rides and booths, and fireworks. It is the event of the year in Pittsfield and the region. Founded in 1973, the Egg Festival was designed to celebrate the egg industry in Central Maine and complement the already popular Kiwanis Karnival. Admission is free and this is an alcohol and drug free event. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Featured will be cultural crafts from the Passamaquoddy, Penobscot, Maliseet and Micmac Tribes: traditional handcrafted one-of-a-kind ash splint and sweetgrass baskets, flutes, dream catchers, birch bark and quill baskets, beaded and quill jewelry, wood carvings, native dolls, walking sticks, and art works. Throughout each day will be traditional native drumming and dancing as well as native foods and a raffle consisting of native crafts and donations from local businesses/people.
