Old Home Days is a two day town fair celebrating small town life with fireworks, a parade, live music, Alumni Day, delicious food and Historical Society Programs. Little Castle Library hosts a book signing of "Feldspar, Families and Feuds," by several of the 9 authors who contributed featured stories to the picture and story book chronicling the different experiences in open pit mining by several of the regions mining families. The charming village was once the center of the world feldspar trade. Operate a mining sluice and find semi-precious gems from Mt. Mica like the state stone, Tourmaline and have it set in jewelry on site. Mine tours are available for a fee to Mt. Mica, Sunday June 3. Climb a rock wall or dare to trapeze. Teens are encouraged to volunteer help plan and attend. Music performances protected from the elements will feature Peter Allen and Hurricane Mountain and Monsta. Jun 02, 2012. Festival FrancoFun took over from the Festival de Joie in 2006. This Franco-American cultural festival features cultural music, traditions, language and foods at Franco American Heritage Center, 46 Cedar Street. Events in 2012 include Franco-American breakfast at 7 a.m. followed at 9:15 a.m. by Mr. Magic and storytelling with Michael Parent. Then Franco-Ameircan menu for lunch at the Center, after lunch is music with 4 groups inlcuding solosist Joelle Morris who moved to Maine from France. Jun 02, 2012. The 15th annual Kezar Falls Lilac Festival will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 in downtown Kezar Falls by the Ossipee River. The event will kick off with a Pancake Breakfast 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Riverside United Methodist Church. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for 10 and younger. Free for a children. A Bike and Doll Carriage Parade will follow at 9:30 a.m., starting by the Church. The Kezar Falls Fire Department and the Lilac Festival Queen will lead the parade from the Porter side, across the Ossipee River Bridge and end on the Parsonsfield side. Helmets are required for bicycle riders. Activities and vendors will be featured in the green spaces on both sides of the river from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., including artisans, crafters, food concessions, yard sales, informational materials from non-profits and plant sales. Other activities are: Walking Tour of historic Kezar Falls Burial Grounds; Box Lunch on the Church lawn; Book Sale at the Kezar Falls Library; Open House at the History House; Magic Show free for all children; Pick-up Co-ed Softball Game; Recycling Information from ecomaine; Fishing Demonstration on the Ossipee River by the Kezar Falls Fish & Game Association; and “Jam Sessions” adjacent to the Methodist Church throughout the day, The concluding event of the Lilac Festival is the ever-popular Chicken BBQ at the Fire Barn from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Sacopee Community Band will be providing toe-tapping music. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $8 & $5 children 10 & younger. All events are free except for where noted. Proceeds are used for community beautification projects. Over the years, American flags were purchased to be displayed around town, "Welcome to the Village of Kezar Falls" signs were erected, a bench made of recycled plastic was constructed overlooking the Ossipee River and tubs were purchased, placed around the village and are filled with flowers each year. The event will take place at Mailly Waterfront Park beginning at 5 p.m. and will end with a dynamic firework display at 9:30 p.m. The evening promises a family-friendly atmosphere with a bouncy house, petting zoo, games, music and concessions, including our ever-so-popular sausage and pepper subs! New this year we will offer tethered hot-air balloon rides beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will be many community participants including Mid Coast American Red Cross, Shotokan Karate Academy, Cathance Fitness Center, volunteer firefighters and EMS, Boy Scout Troop 639, and more. No admission will be charged; however, donations of non-perishable food items will be appreciated for the Friends Helping Community Food Pantry located in Bowdoin. This year, there is also a POPS Friday Art Walk on June 29, 5 to 8 p.m. Featuring art at a dozen venues, live music at three: Ellie and Andy Buckland at the Stadler Gallery, Mali and Tom Obamsawin at the Cottage Gallery at Mountain Village Inn, and The Gawler Family at the Schoolhouse Gallery. Jun 30, 2012. Family Fun Day in Jackman/Moose River. A 4th of July Family Fun Day Parade will start at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 at the Forest Hills School parking lot. It will progress through Main Street, then end at the Jackman Town Hall Field. Family Fun Day children's games and activities will be held after the parade.
