Sep 29 thru Oct 06, 2013. It was a chilly day in March of 1851 when a few local farmers and merchants got together and decided to show off their produce, cattle and wares to the community. Since those humble beginnings, Fryeburg Fair has grown to become Maine's largest agricultural fair complete with six days of harness racing, a farm museum second to none, the world's largest steer and oxen show and a reputation known throughout North America. Similar to the Spring Celebration, we cooperate with local farms and organizations to provide activities including seed saving, hay climbing, horse team demonstrations, pumpkin decorating and more. We also run pumpkin hayrides during the festival - take a tractor ride out to our pumpkin patch and pick your favorite pumpkin. The Fall Festival also offers hot food and lively music. Scarecrow contest, pumpkin carving contest, free hayrides, local arts and crafts, bonfire and entertainment on Friday night (Oct. 5) and many other free events Friday afternoon, evening and all day Saturday (Oct. 6). On Saturday we have our parade which includes floats, music, clowns and classic and antique cars from all over New England. The Parade line up is at 10:30 a.m. and starts at 11 a.m. on Main Street on the west side of town. Immediately following the parade we have our car show at our oceanside Mosman Park. Free t-shirts for all cars entered, food and beverages. Cash prizes and dozens of free items that are donated by our local auto dealers, parts stores and repair shops.
