A 5K road race will kick off the festival which features a local food picnic, music by Mid-coast Maine's own steel drum band, Steelin' Thunder, boat building, a vegetable contest, a critter corner and touch tank for kids, and farmers, artisans, and conservation groups from throughout the Medomak River watershed. There's something fun for the whole family. River Festival will be held Saturday September 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Waldoboro Village parking lot behind Waltz's Pharmacy. The 5k race will begin at 8 a.m. with registration starting at 7:30 a.m. Admission to the festival is free. Sep 25, 2011. A celebration of the working waterfront featuring the Damariscotta River's bounty of fresh oysters at Schooner Landing in Damariscotta. Day long music, poetry contest, touch tank, shucking contest, educational exhibits, boat rides to oyster beds. Oysters available raw on the half shell, cooked in a variety of choices and served with a gourmet selection of condiments. All to benefit the Edward A. Myers Marine Conservation Fund. Sep 30 thru Oct 01, 2011. Vinfest weekend begins Friday night, September 30, with a ticketed wine dinner-dance with an Asian theme in 2011. Dinner will be served in the vineyard at Cellardoor Winery. The Saturday, October 1 Vinfest lineup includes a stellar array of food, wine, music and activities for grown-ups. Cellardoor Winery will host grape stomping, a homemade wine competition, wine tastings, lunch prepared and served by Riverfront Barbeque & Grille of Augusta, wine cellar tours, live music all day, farm stands, hot air balloon rides and many other interesting activities.
