Aug 11, 2012. Livingston Taylor picked up his first guitar at the age of thirteen, beginning a forty-year career that has encompassed performance, songwriting and teaching. Born in Boston and raised in North Carolina, Livingston is the fourth child in a very musical family that includes Alex, James, Kate and Hugh. He recorded his first record at 18 and has continued to create well-crafted, introspective and original songs that have earned him listeners worldwide. From top-40 hits "I Will Be in Love with You" and "I'll Come Running," to "I Can Dream of You" and "Boatman" both recorded by his brother James, Livingston's creative output has continued unabated. His musical knowledge has inspired a varied repertoire, and he is equally at home with a range of musical genres - folk, pop, gospel, jazz - and from upbeat storytelling to touching ballads. Aug 23, 2012. Bob Milne is considered to be one of the best ragtime/boogie-woogie pianists in the world. He was filmed and documented for future generations in 2004 during 3 days of interviews at the Library of Congress, and was declared a "National Treasure" at the conclusion. Milne is an active "Musical Ambassador" for the United States Department of State, and has performed numerous times in Japan, including the Okinawan Islands and Hokkaido. He has also performed in this capacity for members of the Swiss Parliament at the U.S. Embassy in Berne. He appears on stage at the Opera House at the request of dozens of patrons. This year we have taken the whole show to the main stage, beginning Friday August 12, at 3 p.m. Friday will feature some of Maine's outstanding youth talent, The Pineland Fiddlers and 317 Main Street Student Ensemble followed by Erica Brown & The Bluegrass Connection and The Toughcats, two of Maine's favorites. Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. spend the day enjoying the sights and sounds of some of the best national Bluegrass performers, including Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Crooked Still, Farewell Drifters, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Darol Anger's Republic of Strings, Della Mae and local upstart, Mason Strunk. The concert will take place on the slopes of Saddleback Mountain. Food vendors and a beer garden will be available. Camping is available on a first come first serve basis beginning at noon on Friday.
