Dec 11, 2012. Hailing from San Diego, CA, Presidio Brass is a dynamic force in American brass chamber music. With a unique and exciting repertoire written specifically for the ensemble, they have concertized nationally, presenting concerts and educational outreach programs throughout the United States. In addition to performing as a brass quintet, Presidio Brass performs regularly as a part of Millennia Consort, California's premiere brass, organ and percussion ensemble. Members of the group have performed with major symphony orchestras, including the London Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic; can be heard on soundtracks ranging from video games to major motion pictures. The Choral Art Society's Christmas at the Cathedral is scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd, at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, December 4th at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. There is also a noon preview concert on Saturday, December 3. Audiences can expect to hear traditional holiday songs, concluding with a candle lit procession to "Silent Night." The concerts are held at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, Portland, 307 Congress Street. Leah Wolfsong will headline the Fifteenth Annual Winter Solstice Celebration in Auburn Maine on December 10 with Reinaldo Cortez and guest musicians Timbered Lake, Katherine Rhoda, Spirit of the Corn and others. The concert will be at the First Universalist Church, 169 Pleasant Street, in Auburn. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. Donations $10 adults/$8 seniors/students will go to Good Shepherd Food Bank which feeds Maine's hungry. This annual holiday celebration is fun, joyful, spiritual, and it is not to be missed.
