Apr 22, 2012. Literacy Volunteers-Androscoggin's 14th Annual Scrabble Fest is three rounds of team Scrabble play. Teams of up-to-4 players choose to play in either the Pro (intense) or Social (fun) division. To participate, players bring a minimum of $15 each in pledges, but the goal is to raise as much money as possible for LV-A. Register by April 16. Collect pledges for LV-A and bring them with you for an enjoyable afternoon of Scrabble competition. Door prizes, refreshments, word games and prizes for fundraisers. Teams will be given a gift bag, supplies, as well as a map of their territory for the day. Teams will disperse throughout the communities to clean their respective areas. Once the day is done at 2 p.m., volunteers will meet for a free pizza lunch and celebration at Gritty McDuff's in Auburn. This is an important event for everyone who uses the parks and trails in these two communities, and is imperative if we want to keep these areas open to dogs and recreation. 100% of the pledges collected from this event will be donated directly to Pack Life, and will help us continue our important work for the dogs of Maine. Held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the historic Leavitt Institute Building in Turner, this fund-raising event for the Library will make everyone forget the past winter's experience and get engaged with plants, seeds, soil, bulbs, and yes, compost. There will be information and advice available on composting, soil testing, growing "The Queen of Vines," and landscaping, in addition to networking with fellow gardeners. You will be able to purchase compost and loam (in convenient buckets), plants, bulbs, seeds, cedar tubs, trellises, and compost bins. Also for sale will be garden-themed art pieces and craft items and a lovely tulip motif quilt. Lunch will be available on the lower level of the Leavitt Institute Building. Afternoon events will feature a children's Easter Bonnet Parade sponsored by the Turner History Rooms and the Easter Egg Hunt with a visit from the Easter Bunny.
