Learn commonly used terminology, such as ADLs, CCRC's, NF, MaineCare, Private Pay, AL's, and more. Next we will discuss the 10 distinct senior care facilities and services: Home Care, Home Health Care, Adult Day Programs, Retirement/Independent/Assisted Living, Nursing Homes, Skilled Care, Alzheimer's Care, and Hospice. For each of these, we will define the type of community, talking through the advantages and disadvantages. We will explore the services provided, costs to be expected, the activity programs and the limitations of each option. During the Frozen Turkey Hunt, a great, free Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens tradition, different age groups search for apples, many of which win prizes to enhance the Thanksgiving feast - dozens of turkeys, as well as other foods and popping-corn cobs. A "Golden Apple" hidden along with the other apples will be good for 150 gallons of fuel oil, donated by the presenting sponsor, the Dead River Company. This event is a gift to the community, and everyone, no matter where they live, is welcome. Other activities include apple tasting, decorating sugar cookies, creative coloring, and a fall obstacle course presented on the Great Lawn by Air & Water Quality, Inc. There will be complimentary apple cider and hotdogs fresh off the grill, courtesy of Cap'n Fish Whale Watch. Other silver-level sponsors are the Boothbay Harbor Hannaford, Native Maine Produce, and Valley View Orchards. Bronze sponsors are Phil's Rt. 27 Lobster Stop and Wiscasset Ford.
