OOB Olympic and Half Rev Triathlon

Aug 26, 2012. Rev3in partnership with OOB365, the local merchants's association, will launch a new Olympic and Half Rev race in Old Orchard Beach, Maine on August 26, 2012. Pro and age group athletes are invited to compete in both distances for cash prizes. The Olympic distance comprises a .93 mile swim, 24.86 mile bike and 6.2 mile run and the Half Rev race is a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run. Both swim legs will take place in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The bike course starts out flat and fast before taking riders into a series of rolling hills, giving them the chance to experience the beauty of the surrounding Maine farmland and countryside. Tall pine trees provide shade over much of the course, which winds through Saco, Dayton, Lyman, Waterboro, Hollis, and Old Orchard Beach. The run course is an out-and-back, giving athletes the chance to finish out the race on a flat and fast course that includes sweeping views of the Scarborough Marsh and over a portion of the storied Eastern Trail. Aug 06, 2011. This is the 14th annual Beach to Beacon race. The 6.2 mile race starts at Crescent Beach and ends at Portland Head Light. The race attracted over 5,000 runners and 10,000 spectators to the Maine coast in past years, making it the largest road race ever in the Pine Tree State. Aug 20, 2011. The 2011 Belfast Harbor Fest will kick off Saturday, Aug. 20, at 8:30 a.m. with a 5K road race along the scenic Belfast waterfront. The course will begin on Commercial Street near the Belfast Boathouse. From there, runners will continue on Commercial Street, past Belfast Common and the Belfast City Landing, past the old railroad yard and onto the new 12-foot wide cement footbridge that crosses Penobscot Bay. The runners will then circle back and finish at the Belfast Boathouse. Every runner who pre-registers will receive a high quality T-shirt, a ticket to the pancake breakfast and will be entered in the Belfast Harbor Fest raffle.
