May 22, 2010. Dust off your track shoes and get ready to run your fastest mile time ever! A professionally timed, fast, Downhill one mile road race held on the day of the Monmouth May Faire. The race will start on Academy Road in front of the Henry L. Cottrell School, located at 169 Academy Road, and finish on Main Street at the crosswalk in front of Cumston Hall, 796 Main Street, Monmouth. Mile times should be several seconds faster than a track mile! Race proceeds will benefit the preservation and maintenance of Cumston Hall, the crown jewel of Monmouth, Maine. May 23, 2010. Portland's 1st Annual Race to Stop Extinction is a 5k loop around Back Cove followed directly by an after party at Payson Park. The after party will host a kids' fun run, live music, face painting and organic refreshments by farms and bakers. Each participant receives a race medal, an organic tee and entry into the park. A fantastic family day. All proceeds benefit the Endangered Species Coalition. 5k Start at 9 .m. at Payson Park on the Baxter Boulevard side. Entry is $20.
