Description: My favorite types of photography are nature close-ups and landscapes. Landscape photography allows me to show the grand picture, the scenes that people pass daily, but may not see. With my close-up images I try to illustrate the drama, patterns and colors that nature offers to those who are willing to take the time to look for them. My work has been displayed at the Maine Photography show, an annual juried exhibit featuring some of the top photographers in the state. I am also an regular contributor to the art shows at LA Arts' Gallery 5 in Lewiston. My prints and stock photos are available for purchase and licensing.

Portland, ME 04103
Phone: (207) 408-8156

Description: David Andreasen Photography is based in Portland, Maine. Most of his photographs are taken with black and white film and digitally converted to color using the duotone method. Four unique colors are added to selected tonal areas to create a quadtone photograph. This is like hand coloring, except with slider and mouse instead of paint and brushes. Colors are chosen to enhance mood and psychological effect.

Photo Painting - Photopaintings by Phil Poirier

Phil Poirier Photopaintings

18 Millett Street
Livermore Falls, ME 04254
Phone: (207) 897-5349

Description: A Photopainting is a digital photograph that has been manipulated; the colors are saturated, the detail diffused, with some elements removed, some added. The resulting image has many of the qualities of a painting.  The source images in Maine provide most of the structure, but manipulation of the images adds surprising emotional impact.

Maine Photography Clubs

In addition to the individual photographers whom we've listed above, there are also photography clubs around Maine.  We've recently become acquainted with one such club, Oxford Hills Camera Club.  We look forward to including more of them as they come to our attention, for they can offer a wealth of helpful advice to shutterbugs from Maine and Away.
