July Fourth Activities

Augusta - July 4, 2016 is the culmination of the Whatever Family Festival (which runs from June 15 through July 4). Big bash at the riverfront at Augusta Mill Park on July 4th, including a parade at 4 p.m. departing from the State Capitol and culminating with fireworks at Augusta Mill Park on July 4, 2016, at around 9:15 p.m. For info phone (207) 626-2350 or the KVCC at 623-4559.
Bangor - Annual Bangor Independence Day celebration. It starts on July 4th, 2016, with a pancake breakfast at the Brewer Auditorium from 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. This is followed by a parade starting at 11 a.m. that works its way from Brewer, across the Penobscot River to Bangor. Festivities, including a free concert, continue on the Bangor Waterfront from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., culminating with fireworks over the Penobscot River on the 4th.
Bar Harbor - Independence Day Celebration - The 2016 Bar Harbor Fourth of July Celebration starts with a Blueberry Pancake Breakfast at the Bar Harbor Athletic Field on Park Street from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by a Seafood Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other events include a craft fair at the YMCA at 21 Park Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. And don't forget the nnual Independence Day Parade which starts at 10 a.m. and winds from Main Street to Cottage Street to Eden Street to Mt. Desert Street and ending at Ledgelawn Avenue. Head down to the waterfront for the afternoon concert series from 3:30 p.m. and continuing the way up the fireworks," which will be on July 4, 2016 at the pier on Frenchman Bay. Bath Heritage Days - July 1-4, 2016. Four days of July 4th activities, with a fireworks finale over the Kennebec River at the Bath waterfront on Monday, July 4th at 9 p.m. For more info call Main Street Bath at (207) 442-7291.
Beals - The 2016 Moosabec Summer Fest in the towns of Beals & Jonesport features activities from June 24 through July 2, 2016. Fireworks will be on July 2, 2016, at Perio Point on the A.C. Inc. property firing over the water at around 9 p.m. Fireworks rain date on July 3, 2016.
Belgrade - A small town celebration from sunrise to well into the evening. Music, wide variety of yummy foods, kids games, specials throughout the Belgrade Lakes Village shops, frog jumping contest and ending the day with a fireworks display over Long Pond on July 4th, 2016.
Bethel - Fourth of July Community Picnic & Portland Brass Quintet Concert. This long-standing event includes a free two-hour concert by the Portland Brass Quintet. Picnic, presentation of colors and the National Anthem, concert. All in the sweetest setting. Begins at 11:30 a.m. on the side lawn of the Dr. Moses Mason House (14 Broad Street). Bring your lunch and after the presentation of colors and the National Anthem, enjoy a two-hour concert by the Portland Brass Quintet. As for pyrotechnics, there will be fireworks on July 2, 2016, at the Bethel Inn Resort golf course at 9 p.m. and also at the Sunday River Ski Area on July 2 at about 10:30 p.m.
Biddeford Pool - Public fireworks at the Biddeford Pool Community Center on July 4, 2016 at 9 p.m. at 109 Miles Stretch Road in Marsh Lane behind the former Hatties. Rain date July 5.
Boothbay Harbor- Fireworks over the Harbor on July 4th, 2016. Fired from a barge near McFarland Island, the fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
Bridgton - The 2016 Independence Day Celebration in Bridgton occurs on July 3rd on the grounds of the Stevens Brook School, 11 Frances Bell Drive. Starting at about 10 a.m. in the morning there are crafters, food vendors, and a community band performing on the gazebo. The fireworks begin at about 9 p.m. in the evening of July 3rd, also at Stevens Brook School. Rain date July 5, 2016. Brooks - Fireworks as part of the Brooks Bicentennial Celebration on July 4, 2016 at about 9 p.m. at Community Park in Brooks. Rain date July 5, 2016.
Brunswick - The Brunswick Rotary and the Town of Brunswick/Brunswick Downtown Association will be offering their annual 4th of July Games on the Town Mall from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for Brunswick area kids of all ages on July 4. Participation in traditional races and games is free to all and includes Relay Games, 3-Legged Races, a Pie Eating Contest, Wheelbarrow Races, Sack Races and a Watermelon Eating Contest. Camden - Camden's 2016 Independence Day celebration is centered in Harbor Park. Included is the Camden Rotary's Music by the Sea concert from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Camden Harbor Park & Amphitheatre, which features free Independence Day performances by Mes Amis (acoustic gypsy jazz) at 2 p.m., Casco Bay Wind Symphony (popular favorites) at 3:30 p.m., Roosevelt Dime (rhythm and blues) at 5 p.m., and David Dodson and The Lowdown featuring Jon and Rachel Nicolas (folk, rock, blues and country) at 7:45 p.m. Spectacular fireworks over the harbor on July 4, 2016 at 9 p.m. For more info contact the Camden Rotary at (207) 236-3440 or the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce at (207) 236-4404.
Carrabassett Valley - The 2016 Independence Day celebration in Carrabassett Valley starts on July 4th at noon at the Town Park. The pool will be open and there will be activities for the kids from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and also a band from 4 p.m. until the evening. All followed by fireworks at about 9:15 p.m. at the Carrabassett Valley Airport across from Ayottes Store on Route 27. More info will be posted at some point on the Carrabassett Valley town website though it is easiest to call the town office at (207) 235-2645. Fireworks rain date is July 5, 2016.
Casco - Fireworks on Monday, July 4, 2016 sometime after 9 p.m. from a raft on Sebago Lake (rain date July 5). These fireworks are stated to be public, but may be for the benefit of guests at Point Sebago Resort. For more info call the resort at (207) 655-3821. Also in Casco on July 4 are fireworks at the Camp Laurel South swimming docks (rain date July 5). According to the Fire Marshal these are open to the public, but I have in prior years called the camp and this is not true. This is a children's camp and the fireworks are not public. However, the fireworks are visible from a public beach off of Edwards Road.
South Casco - Fireworks open to the public on July 2, 2016 at 30 Migis Lodge Road on docks attached to land in South Casco. Rain date July 3.
Cherryfield - Fireworks on June 25, 2016 at Cherryfield Farm on Elm Street. Pyrotechnics display at 9:15 p.m. Rain date June 26.
Deer Isle - Stonington - 2016 Independence Day celebration activities are on July 4th. Celebrate Independence Day on the Island! Parade, community band & Color Guard, Stonington Six road races, fish pier events, live entertainment and fireworks at dusk. Denmark - Fireworks on July 9, 2016 at 9 p.m. at Town Park at 122 Picket Hill Road. Rain date July 10, 2016.
Dexter - Fireworks on July 3, 2016 at Dexter High School Football Field, 12 Abbott Hill Road, at 9 p.m. Rain date July 5, 2016.
Eastport - 4th of July - Billed as the largest July 4th celebration in Maine, with events scheduled from July 2, 2016 (the day after Canada Day, with its own fireworks on Deer Island Point Park in New Brunswick on July 1), continuing through July 4th. There are literally dozens of scheduled events, including the Grand Independence Parade, concerts at Overlook Park, greasy pole and water sports, antique car show, contests and games for all ages with prizes and of course Fireworks over the Bay seen from the downtown Eastport waterfront on July 4th, 2016. Fireworks rain date July 5, 2016.
Fayette - Fireworks (private) on July 4, 2016 at around 9 p.m. on the docks at the Camp Vega in Fayette. Rain date July 5, 2016. May be visible from locations outside of the camp.
Freeport - July 4, 2016 in Freeport is the kick-off day for L.L. Bean's annual Summer in the Park celebration. On the 4th there is a parade on Main Street and a free concert in Discovery Park by David Mallett & The Mallett Brother Band, followed by fireworks starting around 9 p.m. at 6 Snow Road by the Freeport snow dump site. Fireworks rain date July 5, 2016.
Fryeburg - Fireworks by the Fryeburg Recreation Department on July 2, 2016 at 9 p.m. at 18 Bridgton Road in the roadway behing the football field. Rain date July 3, 2016.
Frye Island - Fireworks at the Long Beach Marina area off Leisure Lane on Frye Island on July 2nd at 9 p.m. Rain date July 3, 2016.
Greenville - A fun day of games, crafts, food vendors and parade at the East Cove of Moosewood Lake in Greenville followed by fireworks on July 3, 2016 at 9 p.m. also at the East Cove midway between the IF&W Building and the Forestry Building. Rain date July 5.
Harpswell / Bailey Island - Fireworks on July 3, 2016 at about 9 p.m. at Cooks Lobster House Point, 86 Garrison Cove Road. See also South Harpswell.
Harrison - Town of Harrison fireworks display on July 7, 2016 at a barge on Crystal Lake by Norway Road. Rain date July 8, 2016.
Houlton - Houlton's 2016 Midnight Madness event at Market Square downtown runs from 9 a.m. to midnight on July 2, 2016 with music, a craft fair in Monument Park and family activities, ending with fireworks at Riverfront Park on the banks of the Meduxnekeag River on July 2, 2016 at about 9:30 p.m. In addition, the Houlton Fair has its own large fireworks display on July 4th, with a rain date of July 5, 2016.
Jackman - Fireworks on July 4th, 2016 at the field behind the Town Office (369 Main Street) at 9 p.m.
Jay - Fireworks on July 3, 2016 at Spruce Mountain Ski Area at 9 p.m. Rain date is July 5.
Jonesport - The 2016 Moosabec Summer Fest in the towns of Beals & Jonesport features activities from June 24 through July 2, 2016. Fireworks will be on July 2, 2016, at Perio Point on the A.C. Inc. property firing over the water at around 9 p.m. Fireworks rain date July 3, 2016.
Kennebunk - Fireworks on July 4th on Gooch's Beach across from the Narragansett Condos at 149 Beach Avenue at 9 p.m. Rain date July 5, 2016.
Lewiston/Auburn Liberty Festival and Facebook - July 4, 2016. The Lewiston Auburn Liberty Festival is an annual 4th of July event held at the Great Falls Plaza in Auburn and in Veteran's Park in Lewiston with bands, entertainment and food vendors. Fireworks finale on July 4, 2016, at West Pich Park overlooking the falls in Auburn. For more info email email@example.com.
Limestone - Fireworks at Cavendish Farms potato field of of Pond View Street in Limestone, Maine on July 4th, 2016 at 9 p.m. Rain date July 5, 2016.
Limington - Fireworks at a field on the south side of Mill Pond on property owned by William Harmon in Limington, Maine on July 2 at 9 p.m. Rain date July 3, 2016.
Machias - Fireworks on July 4, 2016, at Kilton Lane across from Helen's Restaurant on Route 1 at 9 p.m. Rain date July 5, 2016.
Millinocket - 2016 Millinocket 4th of July Celebration. Get ready to celebrate America's Birthday in Millinocket. Come down to Veteran's Park and listen to DJ Frank Manzo spin tunes starting at 10 a.m through the day. A parade will start at the Northern Shopping Plaza at 11 a.m. A Pie and Cookie Sale sponsored by The Friends of the Milliocket Library will also be at Veteran's Park, along with free watermelon for everyone and food vendors. Dancing at the bandstand starts at 6 p.m. and then, at 9 p.m., fireworks at Stearns High School. Rain date for the fireworks is July 5, 2016. For more info phone the KACC at (207) 723-4443.
East Millinocket - The East Millinocket Summerfest includes fireworks on July 8, 2016 at 9 p.m. at 50 Main Street near the waste water treatment plant (rain date July 9).
Monmouth - Town of Monmouth Fourth of July fireworks display will be on July 2, 2016 at around 9 p.m. at 12 Bench Street from floats in front of the swim area. Rain date July 3, 2016.
Mount Vernon - Fireworks on July 3, 2016 on a knoll in a back field of the Leighton property at 8 Belgrade Road at 9 p.m. Rain date July 4th.
Naples - Public fireworks from a raft on Long Lake in Naples on July 4, 2016 at 9:15 p.m.
Newport - Sebasticook Lake Association fireworks on July 9, 2016 at 9 p.m. at the Elaine Tardy landing off of Route 2 in Newport. Rain date July 16.
Oakland - Fireworks on July 4, 2016 at around 9 p.m. from a float in the cove at Camp Manitou in Oakland (rain date July 5). May be visible from locations outside of the camp.
Ogunquit - Fireworks on July 4, 2016 on Ogunquit's Main Beach, southwest corner of the parking lot at 9:15 p.m. For more info call the Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce at (207) 646-2939.
Old Orchard Beach - Independence Day fireworks will be held in OOB on July 4, 2016. They'll be set off by the Old Orchard Beach Pier and Palace Playland on the beach at about 9:45 p.m. For more info call (207) 934-2500.
Oxford - Fireworks on July 2nd, 2016 at about 10 p.m. in the center of the track area at the Oxford Plains Speedway at 877 Main Street in Oxford, Maine.
Penobscot - Fireworks on July 9, 2016 at 9:15 p.m. behind the Penobscot Town Hall at 1 Southern Bay Road. Rain date July 10, 2016.
Phippsburg - Fireworks on July 2, 2016 behind the tennis courts overlooking the pond at Sebasco Harbor Resort in Phippsburg. Though stated to be public by the Fire Marshal, these are resort fireworks. They may be visible from spots outside of the resort. Rain date July 5, 2016.
Poland Spring - Fireworks (private) on July 2, 2016 at 9:15 p.m. at the Poland Spring Golf Course at Poland Spring Resort (rain date Sep. 4th).
Portland - July 4, 2016 (rain date is July 5). The annual 4th of July Festival in Portland, Maine is the Stars and Stripes Spectacular. Opening ceremony at 7 p.m., the Patriotic Pops concert starts at 7:40 p.m. with the Portland Symphony Orchestra and special guest artist Melissa Manchester. The evening culminates with dazzling pyrotechnics, as fireworks arch over Casco Bay from Portland's East End Promenade at 9:15 p.m. Food vendors will be on site. Rangeley - July 3, 2016. Rangeley Independence Day Celebration on July 3rd with events all day and fireworks at dusk. Events start at 6:30 a.m. and most occur at Rangeley Town Cove Park.
Raymond - Private fireworks at 51 Coughlan Cove Road in Raymond on July 4, 2016. Rain date July 5.
Ripley - Town of Ripley 200th Anniversary Celebration includes fireworks on June 25, 2016, at Deer Run Lane in a field next to the pond. Rain date June 26.
Rumford - Fireworks on July 4, 2016 at Hosmer Field Athletic Complex at 9 p.m. Rain date July 5.
Saco - Fireworks on July 3, 2016 at the Funtown/Splashtown USA rear parking lot, 774 Portland Road, at 9:30 p.m.
Sanford - Fireworks in Sanford are on July 3, 2016 at Number 1 Pond by Riverside and Emery Roads at dusk. More activities are scheduled for the 4th, including an Independence Day parade. For more info contact Sanford Parks & Recreation at (207) 324-9130.
Scarborough - Fireworks at the Scarborough Municipal Landfill & inside the track at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on July 2 at 9:15 p.m. Rain date July 3, 2016.
Searsport - Parade in downtown Searsport at 11 a.m. on July 4, 2016, followed by activities such as rowboat races at the Hamilton Wharf. In the evening, at about 9 p.m. on July 4th, come out to Mosman Park for Independence Day fireworks. South Harpswell - Private fireworks on July 3rd at 70 Whites Point Road at 9:15 p.m.
Southwest Harbor - Join us for a wonderful fireworks display to help celebrate the Fourth Of July. The fireworks will be launched off the Acadia Fuel Barge on July 4, 2016, and will be readily visible throughout the harbor area. This show is supported entirely by donations from area businesses and citizens from our local communities. Rain date July 9, 2016. For more info call (207) 244-9264.
Stratton - Fireworks on June 25, 2016 at the field next to Flagstaf Lake, intersection of Route 27 and School Street. Pyrotechnics at 9:15 p.m. Rain date June 26, 2016.
Thomaston July 4th or Thomaston Facebook July 4th - July 4, 2016. This is a large traditional small town Independence Day celebration with a pancake breakfast at the Masonic Hall, a craft tent, a pet show, parade, chicken barbecue, food & vendor booths, dunk tank, games for kids, bouncy houses, horseshoe tournament, musical entertainment, and a grand fireworks finale. West Forks - Fireworks on July 2 at 9 p.m. at the camp turn around area where the Dead & Kennebec Rivers meet (rain date July 3, 2016).
Winslow - The 2016 Fourth of July Celebration in Winslow features many events from July 2 to July 4th, 2016, and culminates with central Maine's largest fireworks display over Fort Halifax Park on July 4th at about 9 p.m.
Winthrop - July 4, 2016, at Norcross Point in Winthrop. Thousands of folks visit Winthrop each year for its annual Fourth of July fireworks display overlooking picturesque Norcross Point at the southern end of Maranacook Lake. The pyrotechnics take place at dusk (around 9 p.m.) on July 4th, 2016. For details phone (207) 377-8020.
