Dec 07 thru Feb 11, 2017.
The Shiretown Bookers are proud to announce their winter exhibit called Great Books about Great Food, on display in the Bookers' gallery area in Mantor Library at 116 South Street in Farmington. "After a good dinner," said Oscar Wilde, "one can forgive anybody, even one's own relations." A great meal shared has something of glory to it, since it is the basis of community, and since, like any other great art, it gives us a chance to rise above ourselves. In most religions, the shared meal is a locus of the sacred. This exhibit will explore the glories of the table and nature of the feast. Some remarkable books will be on display, though none of them will be specifically cookbooks. These are books about great food and the ways that we gather to share it. The books will be drawn almost entirely from the collections of the Bookers' sixty members. Exhibit runs from Dec. 7 through Feb. 11. Event #18218
