Founded in 2001, DLLT has worked to conserve over 370,000 acres in the Downeast Lakes region. In honor of the occasion, we will be showing a premiere of "Advancing Community Conservation," the working title of a documentary film by Mark Ireland, featuring the work of DLLT and other Maine-based conservation organizations. For an enchanted experience and to get inspired about life in 19th-century Maine and Livermore's celebrated Washburn Family, stop in this summer and take a living history tour. Tour the Norland's mansion, farmer's cottage, and one-room school at your own pace. Interpreters, dressed in period clothing, portray a local person, someone you might have met had you visited Norlands in the 1800s. Be a scholar of 1853 in the one-room schoolhouse. Take a tour of the mansion with a Washburn daughter as she tells you all about her famous family. Visit the farmer's cottage and participate in the chores of the day, such as baking, piecing, ironing, or washing. Living history tours are during museum hours tours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., arrive by 2:30 p.m. for full tour.
