Bay of Fundy International Marathon

West Quoddy Head
Lubec, Maine 04652
Phone: (207) 619-1887

Jun 25, 2017. Run with the world's biggest tides on the shores of the magnificent Bay of Fundy - one of North America's quietest but most scenic corners. We are a small (each of the three races - marathon, half marathon and 10K - are capped at 350 runners) two country event organized jointly by the communities of Campobello Island, Canada and Lubec, USA. No "for profit" event management companies, big cities, or bright lights, just community volunteers (including a number of experienced and accomplished marathoners and race directors), scenic fishing villages and lighthouses, plus seals, bald eagles, and sometimes whales. No cheap bling either. Our maritime themed pewter finisher's medals and ceramic awards are all handcrafted by local artists. The goody bags are genuine lobster bait bags. Our technical tee shirts are regionally made, woven from recycled plastic bottles, and make great race shirts that are increasingly seen crossing the finish line at major marathons such as Chicago and New York. Our courses are certified in both Canada (Athletics Canada/Run Canada) and the USA (USATF). We are an official Boston Qualifier. And our one concession to commercialism - we use an electronic bib chip timing company. All our courses start at West Quoddy Head, the most easterly point in the continental USA, and the full and half marathons cross the border and traverse either all or part of Campobello Island, Canada and then return to finish in Lubec, USA. The marathon course is challenging with many short sharp hills - the total elevation gain is 2,400 feet / 730 metres, though never gets more than 200 feet / 60 metres above sea level. The half marathon offers fewer hills and some additional scenic attractions. The 10K is fast and flat for the most part, but has a few small hills and sharp turns in the last 2 kms. See the Title link above for race registration & starting times. Event #14987 |   Report Update   |   Submit An Event   |   Shop Amazon
